Belated Friday Dress

If you love sewing cool clothes for girls, you surely must be acquainted with Celina from Petit a Petit + Family.

Around here, the Loveralls (dungarees and skirt) have conquered us all and have been worn with almost everything. I dare you not to love them 😉

Shortly after testing the Loveralls, Celina launched a new pattern – the Friday dress – and, once again, it was impossible to resist.

This dress features a timeless silhouette with various options for the collar, sleeves, skirt and back and I have to admit, I’m always conquered by patterns that include multiple options – there’s so much to explore!

For testing purposes, I was assigned option D with long-sleeve, round collar, button down bodice with invisible zipper on the side and semicircle skirt (my girl’s favorite)!

It does look more complicated than it really was and it looks so sweet on her 🙂

As usual, Celina instructions are flawless and you do get proper guidance (step-by-step illustrations) during the entire process. Therefore, the final result is very professional!

My girl choose a paisley print (with various shades of pink and a bit of green!!) but despite my initial doubts it proven to be more versatile than expected – it pairs very well with grey, deep green and even dark blue. [she picked the buttons as clearly attested by this picture].

Unfortunately, this time, both my daughter and the weather (it gets darker so much sooner in winter time) should be blamed for the lack of proper pictures – she was never in the mood and it was always “too dark” for indoor pictures …

Still, if you fancy a cool timeless dress that suits a very wide age gap, you should take a closer look at this pattern.

I would love to try option A (with short sleeves and gathered skirt) for summer and the knit tunic version (here) that was made by my talented friend Inês.

You know the saying: “so many (sewing) plans, so little time …

Thank you for reading, my friends

Happy sewing,

Ana Sofia
