The Geneva Cardigan Tour

I’ve blogged about the new Geneva Cardigan by Coffee&Thread before – love it!!, so obviously, I couldn’t say no to the Geneva Cardigan Tour that started earlier this week.

For testing purposes, I was asked to sew the pattern using both the ruffled collar and the ruffled sleeves – although I loved the result – and that cardigan is probably one of my all time favorites and surely turns heads whenever she wears it (and, trust me, she wears it a lot 😉 ) , I knew I wanted to sew the other options.

My initial plan, for the tour, was to sew a boy’s version, but we (me and my boy) couldn’t find any fabric he liked in my stash and, unfortunately, I couldn’t get around to find the time for a shopping trip with my little pal (and this little guy is unable to “pick” a fabric on an online shop).

Soooo … guess who got another Geneva Cardigan (and was so pleased about it)?

The Peter Pan collar is one of my favorite options for girls and it works perfectly for this pattern.

Plus, she has been eyeing this knit (from The Sweet Mercerie) ever since the package arrived and, luckily for her, I was willing to let go of it (I was hoping to use it for myself, but we all know how it goes …).

Geneva Stripes#6

I added just a bit of color – scraps of Liberty were used for the pockets and pink snaps instead of buttons (her favorite part).

Geneva Stripes#1

I love this much-simpler version as much as I love the previous one. It’s a timeless cardigan that will be worn with pretty much everything in her closet and I clearly can see it becoming her “new” favorite.

I’ve said it before and I will say it again – this is a seriously fast (and easy) project to sew. This version took me just a couple of hours to sew from cutting to adding the snaps. You have to love that, right?

Expect to see more of this pattern around here – me and my boy still have a shopping trip to schedule, but his version is definitely coming soon 😉
