I’ve been missing from this space for quite a while. Winter months always get me – I miss the sunlight (and I do live in a very sunny country) and long for the summer as soon as the holiday season is over.
Although I always have a number of projects in the make (and several more in the pipeline), there aren’t many opportunities for outdoor pictures – on weekdays, my little models always come late from school and during the weekends, we’re often too busy with other projects (usually school work).
Still, I was so very pleased to test The Ines dressing gown the most recent pattern from my friend Susana (SucobySusana) – it’s a classic dressing gown for girls and it’s available from sizes 12 months to 14 years old.
The Inês dressing gown features a classic silhouette and front and back yoke, slightly gathered body, peter pan collar and front pockets. It’s quite easy to sew although you do need to take it slowly (specially if your fabric choice is a bit on the heavier size, like mine).
The pattern also includes a set of sweet applique templates for the pockets – I made the smaller heart applique with Liberty scraps from my remnants box. Initially, I didn’t think my girl would approve it, but she actually loved these. And they do make the dressing gown a bit sweeter …
For this dressing gown I used a baby blue fleece fabric from my stash (it was intented to become a boys robe, but I never got around to sew it). The fabric is both heavy and soft and although it was not the easiest fabric to sew, we both love the result – it’s so cozy and very comfortable to wear.
Perfectly timeless dressing gown with a bit of room to grown. I made her a size 10 hoping it will fit her for a couple of seasons (I know it won’t, but I’m always in denial).
Happy sewing,
Boas Costuras,
Ana Sofia

This is so beautiful! It reminds me of a luxurious velvet dressing gown I had as a child. It was the same style. Love the appliqué at the pocket.
Oh, that really sound so luxurious (I bet you love it!)!! Thank you Tamara ❤
It is beautiful! Thank you Ana!
I absolutely love making clothes for my daughter, and this looks sooo cozy and warm for winter. I love soft textures for clothes we wear around the house and something like this would be perfect to get through the rest of this winter. The heart on the pocket is adorable too! Thanks for sharing!
