Rushbrook Dress and Top

I’ve wrote before about the challenges of sewing for “my big” girl – it’s difficult to find a balance between my preferences and her desire to make a (fashion) statement with her clothing.

Some days are difficult than others (I’m actually glad she’s still wearing a uniform to school) – if she could have her way, she would be wearing jeans and tee-shirts on a daily basis, so when a pattern that makes us both happy comes along … (insert big happy smile).

I was fortunate enough to join the tester group Laura set for her new pattern: The Rushbrook Dress and Top. I’m a long time admirer of Titchy Threads patterns (the Small Fry Skinny jeans have been on top of my list for quite a while) and, as expected, the new pattern didn’t disappoint (on the contrary, it exceeded my expectations).

Já comentei, em várias ocasiões, os desafios de costurar para a “minha girl” à medida que vai ficando mais crescida – é difícil encontrar um meio-termo entre as minhas preferências/gostos e o seu desejo em se afirmar através das roupas que veste. 

Claro que existem dias mais complicados do que outros (e fico muito feliz por ela ainda usar uniforme nos dias de escola) – se pudesse escolher acho que (ela) usaria calças de ganga e t-shirts todos os dias, por isso quando encontramos um molde mesmo à medida dos nossos gostos … (sim, ficamos mesmo felizes). 

Tive a sorte de fazer parte do grupo de testers do novo molde da Laura: O vestido e top Rushbrook Dress and Top. Sou uma admiradora, há imenso tempo, dos moldes da Titchy Threads (as calças Small Fry Skinny jeans estão na minha lista há imenso tempo) e, tal como esperado, o novo molde não desapontou (aliás, excedeu mesmo as minhas expectativas). 

 

The Rushbrook dress and top features a floaty silhouette (love it) with a racer back (my girl favorite part) – plus there’s also a few design details that make it a bit more special, like a placket ruffle, gathered pockets, flutter sleeves and a hem ruffle. I selected the flutter sleeves and the hem ruffle.

Este molde apresenta um design fluido (adoro – perfeito para os dias quentes) com o detalhe das costas mais abertas – estilo racer (a parte preferida da minha filha). Inclui ainda outros detalhes opcionais para o tornar ainda mais especial – folho na carcela, bolsos franzidos, folhos nas mangas e na costura.  

Construction-wise I was extremely impressed with this pattern – it includes french seams and bias bound armholes, making it not only comfortable to wear but also as beautiful in the inside as the outside. Laura provides very detailed step-by-step instructions and information on a number of techniques that are really useful (I was amazed by her bias binding instructions – one of my favorites ever!).

No que concerne à construção, fiquei super impressionada com este molde – inclui costuras francesas e usa fita de viés nas cavas, resultando num modelo confortável de usar e tão bonito por dentro como por fora. A Laura inclui instruções passo-a-passo e muita informação técnica adicional que eu achei mesmo útil – adorei as instruções dela para colocar a fita de viés (são das melhores que vi até hoje e o resultado é perfeito). 

I used a piece of broderie anglaise for the top ruffle (my favorite kind, as you already know) following the measurements provided in the pattern. I love the way it looks – crispy and feminine. Obviously, she had to approve it before I add it ❤ .

Para o folho do top usei uma tira de bordado inglês (adoro este tipo de remate, como já devem saber) seguindo as medidas fornecidas pelo molde. Gosto imenso do resultado – ficou feminino e fresco. Claro, que esta opção foi previamente validada pela minha girl ❤ 

Saying she love this pattern is an understatement – this summer, she wore it every time she could (i.e. when it wasn’t been washed)!! Apparently, this design is cool enough to be worn that much … She gets the credits for the styling on these pictures (her favorite look right now includes sneakers and shorts – all the time!!).

Dizer que ela adorou este molde é pouco – este Verão, ela vestiu este top sempre que podia (ou seja, sempre que não estava para lavar)!! Aparentemente, este modelo é suficientemente giro/moderno para ser usado até à exaustão … O styling destas fotos é todo dela (o look preferido são sapatilhas e calções – sempre!!).
