The Rushbrook pattern tour

The Rushbrook Dress and Top is not new to me – I was part of the testing group and managed to sew a top, which has been in heavy rotation (you can check it here) and a dress (not blogged), so when Laura invited me for her Rushbrook Pattern Tour, I was happy to give it another try.

While both my previous versions were suitable to warm weather, I was really looking forward to sewing a dress that would make the transition into fall/winter in a warmer fabric.

O molde Rushbrook Dress and Top não é novidade para mim – fiz parte do grupo de teste e consegui fazer duas versões bastante usadas durante o verão – um top (podem ver aqui) e um vestido (ainda sem fotos), por isso, quando a Laura me convidou para a sua Tour, nem pestanejei. 

Como as minhas 2 versões anteriores eram mais adequadas para o tempo quente, eu estava desejosa de experimentar fazer este molde num tecido mais quente que se adeqúe aos meses mais frios.

I used wool for making a dress version with only a few mods – I reduced the length of the dress (basically it’s original length minus the hem ruffle) and skipped the placket ruffle (I love it but she’s not a fan). I also used scraps of Liberty for bias binding – armholes and neckband – otherwise it would have been too bulky too handle.

As I’m partial on the flutter sleeves, I decided to keep them. Looking back, I should have picked a different fabric for the flutter sleeves – Although the selected wool fabric is medium-weight, it’s not light enough for providing the gathering effect the pattern asks for (lesson learned)!

Usei uma fazenda de lã para fazer esta versão do vestido com pequenas alterações – encurtei o comprimento do vestido (basicamente é o comprimento original mas sem o folho) e não adicionei o folho na carcela (eu gosto, mas ela nem por isso). Para os acabamentos em viés – nas cavas e no decote – usei umas tiras de Liberty (sobras de outros projetos). Caso contrário, o volume seria demasiado.

Como gosto bastante dos folhos nas mangas, decidi mantê-los. Ainda assim, considero que devia ter escolhido um tecido diferente para as fazer – apesar da fazenda de lã não ser demasiado pesada, não é leve o suficiente para se conseguir o efeito pretendido (aprendi a lição)!

We also found out that the Rushbrook dress and top is cast-proof 😉 ❤

We had to make several attempts to get the blouse inside her arm, but the dress was really easy to put on. Besides the racer back (which helps a lot), there’s also the front placket to help her out – looks like this one is set to become a favorite.

Tivemos de fazer diversas manobras para conseguir vestir a blusa, mas o vestido foi super fácil. Para além das costas tipo racer (que ajudam imenso), a carcela da frente é ótima para este efeito – acho que, nas próximas semanas, vai ser o vestido mais pedido!

Once again she gets the credits for  styling on these pictures which is always a sign of a loved outfit (PS: I also made her lace hair-clip. Cute, right?).

De novo, o styling destas fotos foi todo dela, o que é sempre um bom indicio do quanto ela gosta de uma peça (Nota: Também lhe fiz o gancho em renda para o cabelo. Adorável, não acham?).
